“FEBS” SERIES OF LECTURES: NOBEL PRIZE LAUREATE HARALD ZUR HAUSEN TO DELIVER A LECTURE
A series of lectures on Modern achievements of pathogenic microbes study” is to be delivered due to the Federation of European Biochemistry Societies (FEBS).
The researcher of the biological laboratory of YSU Faculty of Biology, the chairman of the Union of Armenian Biologists Sargis Aghayan informed us about the lectures.
The series of lectures are scheduled for March 25-30. 17 eminent scientists from Armenia, Germany, France, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Great Britain, Israel, Portugal, the USA, Norway and Austria are going to make reports.
The program is supported by the Union of Armenian Biologists, Yerevan State University, “Fast” foundation and Yerevan State Medical University after M. Heratsi.
A. Aghayan particularly outlined two of the invited scientists: Novel Prize Laureate Harald Zur Hausen from Germany and Evgeny Kuninin from the USA, who is one of the top 10 scientists of the world.
In parallel with the lectures a conference is to be held during which the young scholars and students from Armenia and abroad are to present the results of their research in the format of poster reports and the best ones will get the opportunity to make verbal reports.
According to the chairman of the UAB the goal of the lectures is to provide the scientific environment where young scholars will have the opportunity to get to know with the innovations of the sphere as well as to communicate directly and establish ties with eminent scientists.
The themes of the lectures are: pathogen viruses and bacteria, eukaryotic parasites, anti-pathogen mechanisms studies.
Among the organizers of the lectures are the researcher of the RA NAS Institute of Biology Hovakim Zakaryan, the researcher of the biological laboratory of YSU Faculty of Biology Sargis Aghayan, the Professor of Academic Medical Centre of Amsterdam University Ben Berkhout and the Professor of Pasteur Institute Marko Vignuzzi.
On the 1st day of the lectures, on March 25, the Nobel Prize laureate Harald Zur Hausen will deliver the lecture “Direct and indirect influence of contagious diseases on humans with cancer” in the hall of Yerevan State Medical University.
