EITI SECRETARIAT MEETING WITH THE UNIVERSITY SOCIETY
The meeting discussion related to the RA Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative was held today in the Session Hall of YSU Academic Council.
The Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (EITI) is a standard promoting open and accountable management of natural resources the aim of which is to create transparent and accountable state and business systems.
The First MSG staff was created in 2016 and included the representatives of the RA Government, extractive companies and civil public establishments the decisions of which were made by consensus.
The application for EITI membership was presented by the RA Government in 2017. On January 30, 2019 the first national report to EITI was made.
The report contains information on the production, employment, permissions of the sphere as well as number of important factors.
The head of the EITI Secretariat Lilia Shushanyan, the EITI experts Lusine Tovmasyan and Anahit Arustamyan, the member of MSG group pf extractors. General manager of “Geomining” LLC Vahe Vardanyan and the MSG civil public group member, the Associate Professor of YSU Chair of Prospecting and Exploration of Mineral Deposits Harutyun Movsisyan, the Dean of the Faculty of Geography and Geology Marat Grigoryan were present at the meeting.
Speaking about the activity and importance of the EITI Lilia Shushanyan noted that each member country must make appropriate changes so as to be able to provide transparency in the sphere.
Mr. Harutyun Movsisyan added that financial data, contracts, legal regulations and other information are available nowadays.
And Mr. Vahe Vardanyan stated that their greatest achievement has been reaching consensus mutual understanding.
