THE TEAM COMPRISING FROM STRUDENTS OF YSU AND OTHER ARMENIAN UNIVERSITIES TO REPRESENT ARMENIA AT ONE OF THE MOST PRESTIGIOUS MOOT COURTS
On February 22-24, under the patronage of the German International Cooperation (GIZ), with the assistance of the postgraduate of the Chair of European and International Law of YSU Faculty of Law Grigor Chobanyan, the team comprising of the students of YSU and other universities of Armenia participated successfully in the 8th preparatory moot court held in Tbilisi.
The preparatory moot court was held prior to the annual “Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot” (Vienna). The Armenian team was represented by Tigran Dadunts (YSU), Mery Khachatryan (YSU), Hasmik Movsesyan (UFAR) and Diana Sakanyan (AUA).
At the preparatory moot the Armenian team competed with the teams of the universities of Germany, Georgia and Russia. Due to the achieved results, the GIZ expressed willingness to sponsor the participation of our team in the “Willem C.Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot” to be held in Vienna on April 11-19. More than 300 teams from different countries will participate in the moot.
The moot court is considered to be the most prestigious one in the field of international commercial arbitration the aim of which is to boost studies of the international commercial law and arbitration among students. The contest is famous in academic circles and is often called “the Olympiad” of international commercial law.
