“HISTORY OF INDIA IS FULL OF ARMENIAN FIGURES AND EVENTS RELATED TO ARMENIA”: DOCTOR AMITABN SINGH
PhD in Political Sciences, Doctor Amitabn Singh from New Delhi Javaharlal Neru University delivered a lecture for the students of the Faculty of International Relations at YSU Paleans hall.
Before starting the lecture the Dean of the Faculty of International Relations Gegham Petrosyan greeted those present and informed that the faculty carries on organizing meetings with political figures and lecturers and diplomats from various countries.
The Dean it is planned to sign a Cooperation Memorandum with Javaharlal Neru University of New Delhi to make it possible to cooperate in the scientific fields.
During the lecture the speaker presented the history of India, the diplomatic relationship between Armenia and India, as well as referred to the main themes of his studies in Armenia-the Armenian Genocide.
Mr. Singh spoke about the policy of the Russian Federation in the South Caucasus as well as about the present-day political situation in India.
“This is my first visit to Armenia, and my goal of coming here is to study the documents and facts about the Armenian Genocide. I have to confess that up today India hasn’t accepted the Armenian Genocide”, said Dr. Singh.
According to him, Armenia and India have old civilization, but the Indian society is not well aware of Armenia and Armenian culture, so this visit aims at development of bilateral relationship.
Dr. Amitabn Singh stressed that the history of India is full of Armenian figures and episodes related to Armenia. “Numerous Armenians survived in the Genocide settled in India and many of them took part in the construction of cultural buildings in India. Besides, many Armenian merchants developed their commerce in India in the period when India was the colony of Great Britain”, added Mr. Singh.
Referring to the tight diplomatic relationship between Armenia and India he noted that they are proven by the visits of the officials of both countries on various levels.
After the meeting the Deputy Dean of the Faculty of International Relations Arthur Israelyan noted due to signing the Memorandum the cooperation will become possible in several directions: students exchange, publication of articles written in teamwork, online lectures and so on.
