YSU HOSTS EMINENT PAREMIOLOGIST JULIA SEVILLA MUÑOZ
On April 22-26, the Chair of Romance Philology of YSU Faculty of European Languages and Communication hosted the Professor of Complutense University of Madrid, paremiologist and translator Julia Sevilla Muñoz.
Julia Sevilla Muñoz is one of the eminent figures of modern paremiological studies who suggested principles of classification, characteristics and translation of paraverbs and sayings which have wildly spread in various studies of proverbs and sayings.
In 2004 Julia Sevilla Muñoz and Maria Teresa Zurdo created the first group of national and international studies of Phraseology and Paremiology.
One of the main goals of this group was to create the corpus of sayings and proverbs which included data for 16 languages, is unique in its type and it is also available in the virtual domain of Cervantes Centre.
In her interview to us Professor Muñoz noted that together with the head of the Chair of Romance Philology Hasmik Baghdasaryan and Ana Roldan she lead an interesting doctoral thesis which was dedicated with proverbs and phrases with components of colours in Armenian, English, French and Spanish.
