AN AWARENESS VISIT TO HIGH SCHOOL N 1 OF GYUMRI
On May 18, a number of 3rd year students of the Faculty of International Relations of YSU headed by the Deputy Dean of the Faculty Arthur Israelyan visited the high school N 1 in Gyumri to familiarize the schoolchildren with the structure and activity of YSU.
Arthur Israelyan informed us that the goal of the visit organized on the initiative of the faculty is to assist future students in their major and to direct them to YSU. Mr. Israelyan said that the selection of the school is made to strengthen the cooperation with the director of the school Naira Tadevosyan in Chinese Studies and to establish cooperation between the two educational structures.
“Within the frames of the 100th anniversary of YSU foundation, I and my students from Arabic group decided to meet the pupils of final forms, to familiarize them with the activity of YSU, and particularly the Faculty of International Relations and to answer their questions. By the way, the school has a Chinese class”, said Arthur Israelyan.
Schoolchildren’s parents were also present at the meeting.
Mr. Israelyan presented the activity of the Faculty of International Relations and the Faculty of Oriental Studies, told about the foreign cooperation the faculties develop with the universities of Iran, Egypt, Syria, UAE, Lebanon.
The future students were also introduced the activity of the “Centre of Chinese Language and Culture” of the Faculty of International Relations, as well as the programs provided by the centre.
The Deputy Dean also presented the pupils the official website of YSU, familiarized them with its sections and ways of finding information necessary foe entrants.
According to Mr. Israelyan, the main feature of such format of the visit was students’ involvement. “Students can present the activity of the university much better and pupils feel less confused in their presence”.
The students participating in the meeting were Anna Gevorgyan, Anna Atabekyan, Diana Ter-Zakaryan, Maran Militonyan and Venetik Chakandaryan.
Arthur Israelyan stated that within the scope of the visit they also visited historical and cultural sights of Gyumri. He assured that such visits will be of long-term.
