“DISCOVERING MICROBIOOGY”: THREE-DAY COURSE AT YSU

The course was organized due to joint efforts of the Microbial Biotechnology and Biofuel Innovation Centre and the Chair of Biochemistry, Microbiology and Biotechnology with the support of the American Society for Microbiology (ASM).

The head of the students’ group of the Armenian branch of the ASM (ArMicro) Liana Vanyan informed that the three-day training is aimed at the popularization of “Microbiology” subject.

According to the head of the Chair of Biochemistry, Microbiology and Biotechnology of the Faculty of Biology of YSU Armen Trchounyan, during the mentioned-above course pupils will be familiarized with microbes, their behavior in human body and in nature, which are their positive and negative features.

In the laboratory the participants will participate in tests on determination the microbial composition of air, water and soil, on determination of bacterial antibiotic activity, as well as on preparation of environments for bacteria growth from wastes.
