YSU IS GOING TO COOPERATE WITH INTERENATIONAL ORGANIZATION FOR PEACE AND TOLERANCE
Acting Rector of YSU Gegham Gevorgyan hosted today the delegation of the International Organization for Peace and Tolerance represented by the President of the organization Mr. Ahmed Al-Jarwae and the Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates to Armenia H.E. Mr. Mohammed Al-Zaabi.
The head of YSU Department of International Cooperation Alexander Markarov, the Dean of the Faculty of Oriental Studies Ruben Melkonyan and the head of the Chair of Arabic Studies Hayk Kocharyan were present at the meeting.
Greeting the guests Gegham Gevorgyan presented them the history and current activity of YSU.
The perspectives of collaboration between the International Organization for Peace and Tolerance and YSU were discussed during the meeting. Mr. Ahmed Al-Jarwan noted that there is a wish to propagate the culture of peace and tolerance through academic activity.
Mr.Al-Jarwan also noted that they provide scholarships to students for implementation of exchange programs with partner universities.
He added that the specialists and experts of partner universities work out educational programs on tolerance to teach not only students but also children of pre-school and school age.
According to the President of the organization, two students are elected to be ambassadors to present the university at the annual meetings.
Gegham Gevorgyan said that the within the scope of the cooperation YSU is ready to carry out the mentioned above activities except for some points which are to be specified and discussed. The parties made an agreement to sign a Cooperation Memorandum.
The acting Rector also invited the delegation of Peace and Tolerance International Organization to participate in the celebration of the Centennial of YSU foundation to be held in September.
