About us

The Quality Assurance Center is an independent structural unit of Yerevan State University, whose mission is to implement internal quality assurance mechanisms and promote a culture of continuous quality improvement in the university.

The YSU Academic Council at its session No. 1 on September 27, 2012, approved the charter of the Yerevan State University Quality Assurance Center (QAC) (Decision Z).

To solve the problems defined by this charter, the QAC cooperates with other structural divisions of YSU and various extra-university organizations and performs the main functions assigned to it.

The YSU Academic Council approved the concept of YSU QAC at its session No. 1 on September 27, 2012.

The core of YSU's quality assurance concept is the mission of the University's QA system, which is to contribute to the strengthening of trust in the main areas of the University's activities (education, science, and public services) and to ensure that the quality and current standards of the qualifications awarded by the University are maintained, continuously improved and effectively managed.

The objectives of the center are:

Development and periodic review of YSU quality assurance (QA) policy and strategy, administrative support for their implementation at all levels,
Maintaining uniform quality standards, harmonizing and implementing QA processes in all major areas of YSU activity,
Ensuring YSU accountability for the quality of education to internal (students, teaching, and administrative staff) and external (applicants, graduates, employers, state and society) stakeholders,
Creation of regulatory and organizational support as well as administrative support for external quality assessment and accreditation of the university and its educational programs ensuring the connection between internal and external quality assessment processes,
Establishing and strengthening links with national, regional, and international QA agencies and university QA centers.

The functions of the center are:

Development, implementation, and constant improvement of internal quality assurance processes, reporting on their results, the definition of internal quality standards and standards by accepted European requirements,
Development of regulatory, procedural, and normative documents of YSU QA,
Provision of administrative support, coordination, and control for the implementation of QA processes in all departments of YSU,
Ensuring transparency of QA processes and procedures, active participation of students, graduates, key employers, and external experts in them,
Organization of YSU institutional accreditation self-assessment process, preparation of the relevant report, as well as planning and control of subsequent actions,
Coordinating the work of university units during expert visits of accrediting bodies,
Cooperation with the "National Center for Quality Assurance of Vocational Education of the Republic of Armenia" Foundation,
Ensuring the quality control of the development and implementation of educational programs and checking their compliance with the established standards,
Preparation, coordination, and support of QA procedures for the development, approval, ongoing monitoring, and periodic review of educational programs in all departments of YSU,
Organization of periodic review processes of educational programs by QA procedures, verification of document packages of new and revised educational programs,
Assisting in the system of self-assessment of the quality of YSU educational programs and their external evaluation and accreditation processes,
Development and implementation of QA tools (surveys, focus groups, etc.) as well as procedures for teaching, learning, and student evaluation,
Cooperation with the QA standing committees of both YSU’s and faculty Academic Councils as well as providing support in their work.
