About the program
Admission requirements
Admission to the "Family Psychology" educational program is carried out based on an oral examination. The questionnaire can be found in the "Admission" section.
The aim of the program
The program aims to prepare specialists dealing with video-methodological and applied problems in the field of family psychology and psychological counseling, who will be able to study the family development patterns, structural components, types, role system, etc. as a whole from a scientific point of view, as well as to organize a psychological support service by implementing family psychological counseling, psychodiagnostic, psycho-regulatory, preventive and psychotherapeutic work in behavioral and emotional spheres with family members, married couples, and whole families.
Advantages
The knowledge and abilities gained within the program enable the graduates to carry out individual and (or) group counseling, psychodiagnosis, and psychotherapeutic work. Graduates can conduct individual, family, and group counseling in various institutions, as well as conduct psychological assessment and rehabilitation of marital relations, parent-child relations, etc.
Career opportunities
Graduates of the "Family Psychology" program work as family, group, or marital relationship psychologist-consultants, parent-child interpersonal relations psychologist-consultants, specialists in individual counseling of different age groups, trainers, and coaches. Most of the graduates get jobs:
- At state and non-state organizations that are related to the provision of psychological support to the family, (Republican Pedagogical-Psychological Center, Territorial Pedagogical-Psychological Support Centers (TPAC), Children's Support Center of the Russian Orthodox Church of Ukraine, "Hope Bridge" NGO, UNICEF and the United Nations international organizations, "SOS Children's Villages", "Orran" charitable NGO, secondary and high schools, preschools, care centers for children with disabilities, care centers for the elderly).
- In educational institutions that train specialists in the field of family psychological support (YSU, ASPU, YSU Ijevan Branch, "Urartu" University, Armenian-Russian University, Vanadzor, Gyumri and Goris universities), in psychological counseling centers with different departmental affiliations (Centers operating under the MLSA, ESCS, Health, Justice, and Emergency Situations Ministries, the RA Police),
- In socio-medical and psychological centers for children and family support (Shengavit Medical Center, Maternal and Child Health Protection Center, Muratsan Hospital, families of children with diabetes, Hematology Center, Center for children with cancer, palliative care system),
- In organizations that develop and implement social projects to help and support modern families (Psychosocial Rehabilitation Center, "Recovery" College, Women's Rights Protection Center, Family Violence Prevention Center),
- In institutions researching various family issues (The YSU Personality and Professional Activity Research Laboratory, The YSU Research Laboratory of Experimental Psychology, and The YSU psychological-pedagogical research laboratories).
Graduates of the program have the opportunity to continue their studies at the YSU Faculty of Philosophy and Psychology.
