On September 30, 2024, at the initiative of the Research Center for Environmental Law named after A. Iskoyan, first-year students from YSUs Law Faculty’s "Business Law and Arbitration" master's program visited the RA Ministry of Environment.
Following instructions from the Minister of Environment of the Republic of Armenia, representatives from various departments, including the International Cooperation Department and the Strategic Policy Department, provided detailed presentations on their activities and answered the students' questions.
During the visit, students learned about the implementation of obligations under international environmental conventions ratified by Armenia, climate changes, and successes in several other areas, as well as existing challenges.
Students also had the opportunity to explore the various directions of activities within the Ministry of Environment's strategic policy, including the fulfillment of environmental obligations established under the comprehensive and extended partnership agreement signed with the European Union.
Notably, the Research Center for Environmental Law named after A. Iskoyan, which operates under the YSU Faculty of Law, collaborates effectively with the RA Ministry of Environment, the authorized body in the field of environmental protection. Such visits, along with inviting national coordinators of environmental conventions to discussions at the Research Center, have become a tradition.
According to PhD, Associate Professor Olympia Geghamyan, Head of the Research Center for Environmental Law named after A. Iskoyan, this cooperation is an important and successful step in applying students' theoretical knowledge to practical situations.
