About the program
Admission requirements
The entrance exam is conducted orally.

Applicants to the "Modern Armenian Language and Translation Studies" program should have a Bachelor's degree or an equivalent qualification.
Admission of applicants with a Bachelor's degree or equivalent qualification in a given specialty is carried out on a competitive basis, based on the results of the progress shown during the previous studies. Admission of applicants with a Bachelor's degree or equivalent qualification in other majors is carried out on a competitive basis, based on the results of the final exams intended for receiving a Bachelor's degree in the given major.
Admission is carried out by the Yerevan State University Master's degree admission regulations.
The program is implemented by the Armenian Language Chair of the Faculty of Armenian Philology of YSU.
The aim of the program
The program aims to provide students with knowledge about the problems of the scientific and educational sphere, the possibilities of their solutions, and the newest methods, to promote the ability to analyze linguistic phenomena and coordinate linguistic data related to the given field of linguistics among students, to endow them with the ability to carry out editorial and translation work, to teach students to edit texts, translate, prepare publications, teach languages, introduce students to the applied principles of lexical and grammatical systems to ensure effective work in the given field.
Advantages
The presented program was developed in comparison with similar Master's degree programs of several higher educational institutions in Armenia and abroad, particularly in Russia, Belarus, and Ukraine. Accordingly, in the presented program, preference is given to courses that contribute to the development of not only theoretical but also practical abilities.
According to the data of the official websites of the RA state universities, such a program operates only at YSU. This means that the competitive index is missing. The expediency of the program is also because students who graduated from other universities of the republic apply to YSU to receive education and qualifications with the mentioned program, which proves the relevance of the program and the effectiveness of the learning process.
Career opportunities
Graduates of the "Modern Armenian Language and Translation Studies" program can continue their studies in Postgraduate studies.
Graduates of the educational program work in scientific, educational, and cultural institutions and organizations operating in RA and the Diaspora, as well as in editorial offices, publishing houses, TV, and radio. Graduates of the program, as translators, are also a sought-after workforce in embassies, ministries, and publishing houses, where skilled translators are required.
