"Armenian Heroes of the French Resistance" conference held at YSU An international conference titled "Armenian Heroes of the French Resistance" was held at Yerevan State University as part of the events organized within the framework of "Manouchian Week." The academic event was initiated by the Sate-Atgh Theater Union and the Art-Image Cultural Organization. Its primary goal was to honor the legacy of Missak Manouchian and promote the Armenian-French historical and cultural dialogue.
Ghent University’s delegation visits YSU with the view to strengthening cooperation A delegation from Ghent University, led by Vice-Rector Mieke Van Herreweghe, along with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Belgium to Armenia, Eric De Muynck, visited Yerevan State University. The delegation met with YSU rector, vice-rectors, and deans of faculties to discuss potential avenues of cooperation, as well as various matters related to the exchange of expertise and the strengthening of scientific collaboration between the two universities.
Oriental studies at the core of inter-university cooperation: Russian scholars visit YSU Today, Yerevan State University hosted a delegation from Moscow State University, including Alexey Maslov, Director of the Institute of Asian and African Studies, Alexey Muravyov, Head of the Department of Caucasian and Central Asian Studies, and Ekaterina Sintsova, Deputy Director of International Relations at the Institute. The discussion focused on the challenges of textbook creation, positive experiences, and new solutions in the field.
ASIIN experts assess YSU educational programs during international accreditation process Yerevan State University recently concluded a series of meetings and discussions with experts from the German ASIIN Agency. Over the span of three days, the focus was placed on the international accreditation of six bachelor’s and master’s programs from the Faculty of Mathematics and Mechanics. The expert group assessed the university's resource utilization, offering constructive feedback and recommendations aimed at enhancing future collaboration and program development.
Opportunities, knowledge, experience: YSU student Ruzanna Sargsyan on studying in Germany Ruzanna Sargsyan, a third-year student in the "English, German, and Communication" program at YSU Faculty of European Languages and Communication, returned from the University of Greifswald (Germany) one month ago, where she studied for one semester. During that period, one of her main goals was to improve her German language skills, as well as to pass on accurate information about Armenia and Armenian culture to foreign students.
Analysis of Iran’s political strategy at the core of YSU Iranologists’ research The political strategy of Armenia’s southern neighbor, Iran, and its impact on the South Caucasus have long been a subject of interest for regional researchers. A research team led by Liana Petrosyan, PhD in History, Assistant Professor at YSU Faculty of Oriental Studies, is currently conducting a scientific study on this topic. The project aims to examine the influence of Iran’s political developments on regional dynamics.
YSU researcher identifies biodiversity loss in several Armenian rivers and proposes solutions for ecosystem restoration The impact of mining, domestic wastewater, and the improper management of water resources have led to the pollution of the Akhtala, Kavart, Karchevan, and Getar rivers, resulting in the complete loss of aquatic biodiversity in these rivers. This issue has been documented by Liana Margaryan, Senior Researcher at Yerevan State University, who, along with her research team, has studied the water-chemical regimes and ecological conditions of more than 30 rivers across the country. Currently, the researcher’s work focuses on the self-purification capacity of rivers in Armenia and the impact of anthropogenic pressures on this ability. The research aims to propose scientifically grounded solutions for the restoration of ecosystems damaged by human activity in these rivers.
