"FAKE NEWS, FREEDOM OF SPEECH" Discussion and Essay Competition at the Faculty of Law
Today at YSU Faculty of Law courtroom a discussion titled "Fake news, freedom of speech" was held and essay awards were written on the same topic.
The discussion within the framework of ELSA DAY was organized by the SSS of YSU Faculty of Law and European Law Students' Union.
In 2015 with the efforts of a group of PhD students at YSU Faculty of Law in Armenia, in particular at YSU, the European structure of the Association of European Law Students has been established, which has been actively working with law students for four years.
According to members of the initiative group, ELSA membership will enable Armenian students to participate in numerous international programs, communicate with international students, internships at law offices and courts in different countries, publish articles in the Association's scientific journal, and more.
Each year ELSA member states decide to organize an event once a year. It's called ELSA DAY, and all members of ELSA speak the same topic in different languages and different formats.
This year ELSA DAY was dedicated to "Fake news, freedom of speech."
Arsen Tavadyan, a lecturer at the Faculty of Law at the Faculty of Law, spoke about the importance of freedom of speech and its limitations.
He argues that freedom of speech allows people to express their views, but that does not mean that different people's views on the same phenomenon have the same values.
It should be noted that at the end of the meeting with lawyers and students, the essay competition "Fake news, freedom of speech" was held, with 16 out of 50 schools applying.
