PREMIERE OF "TRUST ME" DOCUMENTARY AND LECTURE ON MEDIA LITERACY AT YSU
Thanks to the cooperation with the Chair of Translation Theory and Practice of YSU Faculty of European Languages and Communication and the Public Journalism Club, a meeting-lecture with journalist Tirayr Muradyan took place at YSU, after which the students had the exclusive opportunity to watch "Trust Me" documentary about the need to be a media literacy and the bad consequences of misinformation.
Dean of YSU Faculty of European Languages and Communication Gevorg Barseghyan, Head of the Chair of Translation Theory and Practice Ruzanna Ghazaryan, representatives of the faculty, students and guests were present at the event.
Welcoming those present, investigative journalist Tirayr Muradyan first spoke about the urgency of the chosen topic, then referred to critical thinking, his experience in media literacy and misinformation.
Ishkhan Dadyan, the translator of the Armenian subtitles of the documentary "Trust Me", especially emphasized the connection between the media and the translation spheres.
In a conversation with us, Ruzanna Ghazaryan, Head of the Chair of Translation Theory and Practice, first highlighted the involvement of the media field in the sphere of translation and informed that in the near future an extended discussion of the film will be organized with the Faculty of Journalism. "Especially at this time when our society and state are suffering from misinformation, we must take all steps to overcome this problem."she said.
