REPRESENTATIVES OF YSU IAS TO DEVELOP WIDE SCIENTIFIC-PRACTICAL ACTIVITY IN MOSCOW
On November 4-11, the deputy director of YSU Institute for Armenian Studies Mher Hovhannisyan and the head of the Department of Diaspora Studies of the same institute Arman Yeghiazaryan were invited to participate in the round-table discussion entitled “Peculiarities of Armenian Diaspora Formation in Russia and Moscow” which was initiated by the laboratory of Diaspora History of the Faculty of History of Moscow State University.
In his interview to ysu.am Mr. Hovhannisyan informed that the invitation was not random as the interaction with the mentioned above laboratory and the executive council of Moscow city department of the Union of Armenians of Russia was started in 2016, and since 2017 the representatives of IAS are included in Armenian-Russian international research programs.
The representatives of YSU came up with reports and lectures. We’d like to add that Arman Yeghiazaryan and the head of Moscow laboratory Oksana Solopova are co-leaders of one of the Armenian-Russian international research programs.
“Our reports related to community problems. Being involved in the Armenian-Russian international research group studying the present developments of the Armenian community of Rostov-on-Don, I made a report on the comparative analysis of the identity and institutes of the Armenian communities of Rostov-on-Don and Lebanon. I attach importance to our cooperation with the Armenian community structures of Moscow including the local scientific and educational bodies and Moscow State University. Since 2016 we have been implementing such programs to expand and develop them”, said Mr. Hovhannisyan.
Arman Yeghiazaryan made a report “On the issues of verification of the history of Armenian Diaspora”.
At the behest of the analyst of the center for the History of Holocaust and Genocides of Russian State Humanitarian University Armine Antonyan, Mher Hovhannisyan delivered a lecture entitled “Armenian Genocide: causes and consequences” for the students. He also had meetings with the parents of the students attending “Hayordats Toun” of Moscow and talked to them about patriotic upbringing and keeping the Armenian identity. They were also hosted in the office of “Towards Ararat” organization. The representatives of IAS delivered lectures related to Armenian history to the members of local youth society.
The series of lectures was completed with the open scientific-practical discussion entitled “World Armenian Diaspora: from theory to practice” which was organized by the Armenian Youth Association of Moscow. “During the meeting we tried to reveal the problems existed in the current stage of homeland-diaspora relationship in the format of questions and answers. I think the meeting was mutually beneficial”, said M. Hovhannisyan.
The IAS deputy director also had meetings with the heads and representatives of different community structures of Moscow during which new perspectives of cooperation were formed.
“We certainly attach importance to our cooperation with all community structures of Moscow which should be sustainable and based on the principles of interaction. The executive council of the Moscow city department of the Union of Armenians of Russia is one of such establishments. We have been operating with the head of this establishment, Shahen Petrosyan for two years and I think that the cooperation changed its nature from theory to practice. We discussed new programs during our meeting with Mr. Petrosyan and I was pleased to know that certain improvements have been made in the building subordinated to the establishment which will promote strengthening ties between local the Armenian and foreign youth representatives. A modern center was opened there in the form of the loft and we discussed the issues of possible cooperation with the director of the loft Armina Mamikonyan. I hope our university will have its professional-representative corner in the center”, said Mr. Hovhannisyan.
Mr. Hovhannisyan also met with the director of the Armenian Museum of Moscow Arsen Alexanyan. The discussed the perspective of publications of the specialists of YSU IAS on the virtual platform of the museum, as well as the issues related to joint implementation of the programs contributing to preservation of Armenian identity.
“The last day was particularly important and mutually cognitive, especially the meeting with the director of “Tparan” company Armen Hovhannisyan, the editor in chief of “Zham” periodical Anna Givargizovna, the deputy editor Vladimir Petunts. Possibilities of cooperation were discussed during the meeting”, summarizing the interview said M. Hivhannisyan.
“We hope, due to such meetings our relationship with the Union of Armenians and scientific and educational establishments of Moscow will develop and new perspectives of effective interaction will appear”, concluded the YSU IAS deputy director Mher Hobhannisyan.
