ACTIVE LEARNING IN THE FLIPPED CLASSROOM

From December 3 to December 7 Academic secretary of YSU, Associate professor of the Chair Political Institutes and Processes Menua Soghomonyan, Head of Chair of Service Gor Aleksanyan and Assistant professor of the Chair of History of Philosophy Serob Khachatryan participated in the Training of Trainers-course Active Learning in the Flipped Classroom. The course was offered by Didacticum, the Teaching Staff Development Center at Linköping University, Sweden as a part of the PRINTeL project Trainings took place at Didacticum center of the university and other learning spaces of the university.

The concept of Active learning and active learning techniques were presented by the trainers. Group discussions were held on complexity of methods from pedagogical and digital skills perspective. The Head of Didacticum center Gunvor Larsson presented her subject syllabus, which is based on active learning. During the training pedagogical approach Flipped classroom was presented. The Flipped classroom is a pedagogical approach, which allows watching multimedia lecture materials before the class and discuss the learning materials in the auditorium.

Before the course reading materials were posted on the Web. All introductory lectures were followed by activities, were learnt concepts were applied. Digital tools like Menti, Padlet were presented as effective platforms of using active learning. These tools were presented at technologically equipped auditorium of the university. While presenting Flipped classroom approach the technique of recording lecture with Power Point was taught and applied.

One of the important components of the course was presentation of ABC learning design tool, which is used for course design. As a continuation DEF lab was used as mastery for designing new course. Armenian group decided to draft a course design of university professor’s trainings.

All participants presented their course design. The program leaders Janerik Lundquist and Peter Delenius gave feedback to groups.
