CULTURAL DIALOGUE:ARMENIA, GEORGIA, RUSSIA TO HAVE A ROUND TABLE DISCUSSION AT FACULTY OF SOCIOLOGY

The head of the Chair of Applied Sociology Professor Arthur Atanesyan greeted those present.

The coordinator of the round-table discussions of “Armenia, Georgia, Russia: cultural dialogue” program Razmik Poghosyan presented the activity of the Armenian community referring to the challenges and rooted problems.

The third secretary of the RF Embassy to the RA Igor Ratushnyak stressed that all of them are heirs of ancient civilizations and that preservation of ancient cultures and handing them down to generations is their obligation.



The head of “Cultural enlightening” NGO, the director of the documentary “Armenia, Georgia, Russia: cultural dialogue” program Vadim Ovchinnikov presenting the experience accumulated for years, told about the methods their team used to promote and propagate cultural programs.

The film director referred to making Armenian culture public and attractive for Russian youth.



He spoke about the generations born in 1983-2003 and their system of values stressing the features that become a target for marketing strategies.

For instance, “The effect of sneakers”-the tendency to have an actual and special product. In the 1990s the lack of trades gave a birth to the tendency to admire a chocolate bar. It was a novelty and it fascinated people.

By using this method the authors of the program try to get programs which can survive in the modern world.

Then several films representing Armenian culture (about Lavash and wood craft) were shown.

Vadim Ovchinnikov outlined this way of developing Armenian-Russian friendly relationship-via history and culture.

The chief editor of “Heirs of Urartu” program, the scenario writer of “Armenia, Georgia, Russia: cultural dialogue” program, cultural critic Irina Tretyakova presented the TV programs in which most of the time is occupied by criminal chronicles and cultural news are given too little time. He outlined the educational and aesthetical influence of cultural programs.

She outlined that the best way to build up positive relationship between nations is propagating positive information about one another. Numerous nations living in Russia are mainly unknown for Russians and it causes problems and negative attitudes.

The head of the division of the Guild of Inter-ethnical Journalism, the author and presenter of “National territory” TV program Ruzanna Shahnazaryan told about the peculiarities of presenting ethnos. She stressed that sometimes it is necessary to forget about your own national identity to create an interesting and objective program.

The meeting was finished with an active discussion related both to journalism peculiarities and to making Armenian culture public.
