Education, work, own business project: story of YSU student Liana Khachatryan
Liana Khachatryan, a 3rd-year student from the YSU Faculty of Economics and Management, attaching importance to academic education, combines studies and work, getting involved in many business projects and activities. Liana participated in a number of competitions, one of which was the Seaside Startup Summit International Business Forum held this year in the United Arab Emirates.
We talked with Liana Khachtryan about the importance of university education, student activism, her created project, competitions, the startup and future plans.
Liana told about her achievements herself.
Why did I decide to become an economist and study at YSU?
I had been hesitant about choosing a profession, however, my admission to YSU had been predetermined for me a long time ago. I had considered various paths like medicine, physics, and material science. Choosing a profession had been really difficult for me. Studying the ranking of Armenian universities, educational programs, YSU Faculty of Economics and Management, I realized that here I will have the opportunity to acquire professional knowledge and skills crucial for my future endeavors. I chose the profession of economist so that I can properly manage the resources given to me and achieve the desired result.
Thanks to the knowledge gained at the university, I participated in a significant international scientific event held abroad…
Recently, a new component has been included in the assessment system of some courses at the university – the research component. As part of the "Project Management" course, we were provided with the opportunity to develop a project. Although I already had a project idea, it was refined during the course. Within this framework, I successfully completed my project and, as the startup's creator, participated in the Seaside Startup Summit International Business Forum held on February 23-28 in the United Arab Emirates. Among the participants of the forum were organizations from various countries and startup founders who had passed the pre-election stage. Notably, there was a substantial increase in applications this year.
At the international business forum, I presented my startup "LEDon", which is focused on creating digital price lists and an extensive information base. At the moment, I am working intensively on the project and I hope that the mobile app will be released very soon and available to all consumers. In the second stage, I will create digital price lists, which will be available in the shops and supermarkets. By scanning the barcode customers will not only see the price of goods but also have the opportunity to read detailed information on goods. The composition of goods will be accessible to customers, they will be allowed to write a review, as well as read the feedback of people who have already used the goods and found, for example, some disadvantages or advantages, etc. In short, the app will help the consumer make a decision. I plan to finish and make the application available on both Google Play and App Store platforms by year-end.
I successfully presented my project at the forum, however, unfortunately, I didn't secure a win. Participating in the forum not only led to cooperation offers but also provided me with the opportunity to get acquainted with the best specialists in the field, whose advice will surely help me to achieve good results in upcoming competitions.
Combining education and work…
Along with my studies, I coordinate the "Armath" engineering laboratories in Yerevan. I provide technical and software support to the group leaders and monitor the laboratory activities. As a group leader, I teach at Shirakatsy Lyceum. In the "Armath Airborne'' UAV educational laboratory of the "Hay Aspet" school, I started leading a group and teaching programming, technical maintenance and management of unmanned aerial vehicles. Developing my skills in this field, I decided to teach children to make unmanned aerial UAVs, program them, and give them appropriate missions. I have built and tested training UAVs myself. Currently, I have students who will be conscripted into the army in about 2-3 months and will serve in respective units. Cultivating expertise from a young age and becoming qualified professionals is vital for our nation's future.
YSU in my successes…
All the work was with the data and its collection. In this matter, the "Econometrics" course helped me a lot to create a database that works more accurately. Throughout these three years at YSU, I have received and continue to receive high professional qualities, skills, and knowledge essential for achieving my goals and effectively managing my work.
That's why I imagine myself working only in Armenia, leveraging my knowledge for the country's development. If each of us contributes to the development of the motherland, we will have a strong and powerful state. The stronger we are, the more technologically advanced we are, the more important position we will occupy in the world.
My dream…
I dream of becoming a leading specialist in the field and a good and useful person for my country. I want to leverage my professional qualities and experience for developing the educational sector as education is the driving force of the state, which pushes the nation into advancement and development.
