SCIENTIFIC TOPIC "POTENTIAL OF PLANT ORIGIN COMPOUNDS IN THE DEVELOPMENT OF FOOD AND FEED PRESERVATIVES AND NEW BIOLOGICALLY ACTIVE ADDITIVES"
The Scientific Committee of the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of the Republic of Armenia has funded the research topic "Potential of plant origin compounds in the development of food and feed preservatives and new biologically active additives". It was presented by the group of researchers from the Chair of Biochemistry, Microbiology and Biotechnology of YSU, Faculty of Biology.
Ph.D. Naira Sahakyan, senior scientific researcher, head of the mentioned group, told us that within the framework of the presented project, it is planned to study the mechanisms of the biological activity of plant extracts obtained from plants growing in the territory of Armenia and their effect on antibiotic-resistant microorganisms.
The main goal of the project is to develop natural preservatives, biologically active additives and other preparations with antimicrobial and antioxidant activity, which will be used in agriculture, food production, in preventive medicine and veterinary․
The analysis of the results will be done by clarifying the action mechanisms of biologically active substances in the context of the demand for natural food/feed preservatives, the presence of resistance problem to antibiotics, and the existence of human metabolic disorders.
