YSU PARTICIPATED IN THE 2ND INTERNATIONAL CONGRESS ENTITLED "CIS LANGUAGE POLICY"
In October, the 2nd international congress entitled "Linguistic Policy of the CIS Countries" was held in Almaty, Kazakhstan.
The Congress brought together about 150 scholars-linguists, as well as representatives of related professions: psychologists, playwrights, directors, lawyers, historians, political scientists and politicians from Russia, Kazakhstan, Armenia, Azerbaijan (distant), Belarus, Georgia, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and Ukraine.
During the three-day congress, the participants discussed a number of issues related to language policy in the post-Soviet space.
The Armenian delegation was headed by Lianna Matevosyan, PhD, Professor of the Chair of Russian Linguistics, Typology and Theory of Communication at the Faculty of Russian Philology, President of the Armenian Association of Russologists.
Armenia, among the representatives of other scientific institutions, was represented by YSU Faculty of History Professor Hakob Harutyunyan and Assistant of the Faculty of Russian Philology Karina Hovhannisyan.
As a result of the International Congress, a collection has already been published, which includes the main theses of the speeches of Russian scholars and other specialists on the language situation in the CIS multilingual countries.
